Welcome one and all. We are excited to host a drum and song circle at the magical zone that is The Interchange! Bring your drums, percussion, flutes, didgeridoo, guitars and voices and come jam, chant, dance and pray with us on the awesome padded marley floor. (no shoes please)This drum circle will be open flow style, and will allow for the spontaneous moment to birth many creative impulses in each new moment. We will play many different tempos and styles, bring your style and teach us a new beat!! We will also explore call and response vocal activations, as singing together is so potent and important in these times. Got a new line from a poem or a phrase you want to chant, bring it, we'll explore with you and see what happens.
For the last hour or two we will bring down the volume and explore more of a song type jam with melodic instruments. This will surely be a night of nuance and dynamism! COME PLAY! It will be lightly facilitated by Ybub Levi.
Some drums and percussion instruments will be provided, so if you do not have one, please come anyway, we've got something for you to bang on.
All acoustic please, no electric instruments.
We encourage the participants of this event to attend in a sober state and to allow the trance-formative power of the drumming and dancing to be the consciousness altering medicine it can so powerfully be. Please be very mindful and intentional of your consumption, if you choose to partake in any medicines (ferments, plants, and otherwise).
** Alcohol is prohibited at this event, thank you for honoring our request, we reserve the right to ask anyone to leave who decides to break this agreement.**
Alkaline water from Water Tree Heights will be provided. Please bring a vessel for your top off of the elixir of life.
**Entrance and parking for the Interchange is off of Hamilton Street, not Cleburne, inside the gated section, you can park inside the gated section and the two entrance white doors to the interchange are also in that section. You can also park on the street but Please do not park in front of small houses across the street on Hamilton. **
Suggested Donation is 10-20 dollars to cover renting of space, but any amount small or large is appreciated. please pay what you can to contribute to this amazing community space and event.
