Dressed To Kilt

The 2023 DTK will be held on April 1, 2023 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. This will be exactly 20 years to the day from the first show in NYC at the Council on Foreign Relations. For the first time ever we will be holding this event in the Nation’s Capital. Since 1930 this old world hotel has hosted presidents, world leaders and inaugural balls. It is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. It is located in one of Washington’s premier residential neighborhoods and it is situated on 11 acres with beautiful gardens and it overlooks Rock Creek Park. It is also almost directly across the street from the 163 acres of the National Zoo. We are now in the process of negotiating preferential room rates for our DTK friends traveling to Washington DC.

The theme of our next show will be “Country Cool – 20 Years of Dressed to Kilt”. The show is now recognized as an incredibly exciting evening of charity, fashion and fun and it is the largest and most prestigious Scottish fashion show in the world. It is also one of the highest profile fashion shows in the United States in terms of press and media generation. DTK was also one of the founding events at the creation of Tartan Day in NYC and it is now by far the highest profile Tartan Week event in the USA in terms of media and press generation. The runway show will again highlight and promote country lifestyle fashion. This includes fashion for hunting, shooting, stalking, riding, fishing, hiking, camping and outdoor activity in general. Urban dwellers are now starting to develop a passion for the outdoor country look. We shall be promoting the best of Scotland’s designers and we will also be inviting designers that utilize Scottish fabrics like tweed, Tartan, Shetland wool, and cashmere in their designs.

As usual we shall have a number of Scotland’s best looking fellows in kilts on the catwalk and they will be joined by several former Navy SEALS doing their best to impersonate runway models. We also always honor at least one US Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. For those of you not familiar with this show you will quickly realize why the DTK theme song is “It’s Raining Men” by the Weather Girls. In recent years Scotland has lost two of its biggest supporters, Sir Sean Connery (co-founder of Dressed to Kilt) and Queen Elizabeth II. We shall be remembering both of these individuals in the show.
