About this Event
Join us for an open drawing session with excellent models. This is an opportunity to draw observationally, or paint, and work with mostly-clothed models in curated and themed looks, that may include casual lingerie, burlesque, evening wear, partial nude with still life, musical instruments, glamour, occupations, drag, streetwear, and puppetry. The basis of this weekly session is the human figure, and a diverse and interesting array of models will be present. Each session promises to be inspiring, not just because of our wonderful models, but because of the artists at hand.
Optional Instruction from 6-6:30pm: For those wanting some guidance or instruction, we encourage you to show up right at the beginning, at 6 PM. Our teaching artist will introduce some useful instruction that can inform the rest of your session, and give you something to work with as you develop your artistic skills. Artists of all levels (those not needing instruction) are encouraged to arrive at 6 PM, as well. Those not interested in instruction can simply work with the model and tune out our teaching artist if they choose to. After 6:30, the session will be uninstructed, with models changing poses, music playing, and artists working independently on their drawings, sketches, or paintings.
Share the love: Cash or Venmo tips for our models are totally optional, not required, and we appreciate them, should you feel inspired.
BYO art supplies. All drawing, sketching, and water-based painting supplies are encouraged. Oil painting is fine, but please avoid toxic solvents. (please be careful if using charcoal or chalk pastels- it's pretty messy. Good studio hygiene is encuraged)
BYOB: those who would like to bring an adult beverage may do so. We have an eclectic collection of mugs and cups you can use, or byo.
Be Kind: Ultimately, we want to maintain a fun and encouraging as well as a very respectful atmosphere. This is an inclusive and nurturing space, for those who choose to come as guests, as well as our models, teachers, and administrative team. We welcome artists of all ability levels, and we seek to encourage and inspire all who walk through our door.
