Drawing Moving Pictures: Film
Live Online Class: Saturday 12 Oct 2024 2-4pm BST
+ 14 Days Recording Access
Taught by and hosted by
Join us for a one-of-a-kind drawing class where we’ll capture unforgettable moments from two captivating films, turning cinematic scenes into drawings! In this class, our main focus will be drawing—starting with short sketches and gradually building to longer compositions.
Karolina will guide us through the process of drawing compositions from film frames, focusing on interesting details like gestures, props, unposed natural situations, and the dreamy, imaginative setups that Kit Zauhar’s films are known for. You will be shown how everyday situations can be cinematic and how to spot them effortlessly.
We’ll be working from two films: Actual People and This Closeness by Kit Zauhar, an NYC-based filmmaker, writer, and actress originally from Philly. These films offer a sincere and unfiltered portrayal of modern life, filled with awkward conversations and unpredictable choices.
This class is open to all levels, whether you're a beginner, a practicing artist, or haven’t drawn in years! You’re welcome to use any materials you like for this drawing class, but at a minimum, you’ll need a pencil and multiple sheets of paper.
Materials:
- Pencil
- Paper (loose sheets or a sketchbook)
- Optional extras: anything colourful
This class is suitable for all levels!
