About this Event
Jim Croce ("Time In A Bottle," "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown," "Operator") and Cat Stevens ("Father and Son," "Wild World," "Peace Train") are two singer-songwriters who helped to shape the soundtrack of the 70s with their beloved music, but their stories are very different. Croce, an American, built his career in the context of the folk music scene but his life was tragically cut short at the height of his fame. Cat Stevens, a British artist, was a pop singer first who then cultivated a lush acoustic sound with albums like Tea For The Tillerman and after his conversion to Islam continues to perform as Yusuf/Cat Stevens. In this fascinating and tuneful lecture-concert, Dr. Mike Daley intertwines the story and songs of Jim Croce and Cat Stevens, performing their classic hits with Greg Wyard (The Gordon Lightfoot Story, The Simon and Garfunkel Story) on bass, Dean Drouillard (The Van Morrison Story, The Rolling Stones Story) on guitar, Adam Warner (The Beach Boys Story, The Guess Who Story) on drums and Jill Daley (all shows) on piano and violin.
