FREE in-person classes for Donaldson customers to learn about the basics of servicing baghouse (6/16) and/or cartridge (6/17) collectors.About this Event
You can either sign up to attend the baghouse maintenance & troubleshooting class on Tuesday, June 17, or the cartridge collector maintenance & troubleshooting class on Wednesday, June 18. These classes are being held at the Training Center of Donaldson's world headquarters in Bloomington, MN. Access to products, experienced industry professionals, group discussions, and hands-on activities will help participants learn about optimal system performance. The overall goal is for participants to apply what they learned to better maintain the dust collection systems at their facility.
Learning outcomes:
- Explain how baghouse and/or cartridge collectors function and clean
- Describe routine preventative maintenance
- Identify common replacement parts
- Troubleshoot basic issues

Info: After introducing our trainers and participants, you will learn the basics of dust collection to get a better understanding of how systems are designed to function. This section includes some basic terminologies, formulas, and concepts important for dust collection. This section also includes an introduction to the duct calculator, which will be handed out to each participant.

Baghouse Controls & Cleaning Systems
Info: During this section, you will learn about the controls that run baghouses (ranging from simple to very complex). You will also learn about different types of cleaning systems, including medium-pressure (PD pump), low pressure (reverse air), pulse-jet cleaning, and shakers.

Baghouse Collector Hands-On Activity
Info: You will have a chance to get your hands on some of the baghouse collectors in the training center, including RF, Rugged Pleat (RP), Modular Baghouse (MB), Unimaster (UMA), PowerCore CPV, and the Dalamatic.

Baghouse Filters
Info: During this section, you will learn about (and get your hands on) different types of fabric and pleated bag filter medias. You will learn which is best for different types of applications.

Preventative Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Info: You will spend the afternoon learning about routine preventative maintenance (what to check daily, weekly, monthly, etc) and how to troubleshoot issues that may arise. This section covers collectors that utilize both medium-pressure (PD pump) and pulse-jet cleaning. Baghouse filter-related troubleshooting is also addressed.

Info: During this portion of the class, you will learn more about the different types of electrical controls that run cartridge collectors, and how pulse-jet cleaning system works. You will also learn about how a few different types of cartridge collectors work and clean.

Info: You will have the chance to get your hands on some of the cartridge collectors in the training center, including the Downflo Evolution (DFE), Downflo Pre-Assembled (DFPRE), and the Downflo Workstation (DWST)

Cartridge Filters
Info: You will learn about how dust is filtered, different types of filter medias for cartridge collectors, and the types of applications each are best suited for. You will have the chance to get your hands on different types of filter medias.

Preventative Maintenance Schedules & Basic Troubleshooting
Info: Our team will present recommended preventative maintenance schedules (what to check daily, weekly, monthly, etc) and how to troubleshoot common issues that may arise. This portion includes an introduction to iCue and how to reach dashboard charts to identify trends. It also includes hands-on activities, such as how to conduct a solenoid/diaphragm check, repairing a solenoid, repairing a diaphragm, taking an airflow measurement, etc. There will be plenty of time for Q&A throughout this session as well as throughout the entire class.
