About this Event

Join former Crimewatch presenter Jacqui Hames and a distinguished panel of national journalists, broadcasters & experts for the launch of the PJP's new Ethical Reporting Guidelines.

Most journalists aim to expose wrongdoing, inform the public, and hold power to account, but many face intense pressure and work in environments that don’t always support high standards or public protection.

These new guidelines have been created by experts and practitioners from across civil society and the press, to raise reporting standards on the most sensitive and consequential issues of our time and are designed for newsroom use.

For this special event to mark the guidelines' launch, hear from journalist Emma Jones, who has worked at The Sun, Sunday Mirror, New European and other newspapers & magazines, renowned broadcasting expert Professor Steve Barnett, guidelines coordinator Liz Pendleton and expert guests from across civil society.  Hosted by Jacqui Hames, former Crimewatch presenter and campaigner on press standards.

Whether you are a student, journalist, researcher, or interested in the role of the press in public life, this event will deepen your understanding of media ethics, accountability, and the real-world consequences of reporting. After the panel discussion, join us for drinks nearby.
