About this Event
This is the third in a series of themed tastings at Joyce. Georgina from importer Wines Under the Bonnet will be pouring 5 different wines from all across Europe, from natural winemakers who are doing things differently.
Starting the project as a way of re-connecting with nature whilst still working full-time jobs in accounting, Lucie Swiestowska & Jules Phillips (Ham Street) were quickly bitten by the regenerative agriculture bug, understanding that improving soil health and promoting biodiversity was the key to healthy fruit, and happy wines.
To maximise soil life, Laurent Roger and Melissa Ingrand (Mataburro) don't plough, using green manure planting instead.
Jean-Pierre Rietsch was one of the first growers in his region to experiment with macerating his aromatic grape varieties.
Andi Weigand works on the sides or lower down the hill Iphöfer Kronsberg, to achieve more subtlety in his wines compared to other area producers, whose steep south-facing slopes now receive much more sunshine – perhaps climate-change induced.
Inspired by Masunobu Fukuoka, Francesco Pozzobon (Tenuta Foresto) aims for minimal input agriculture; leaving natural systems to their own accord for the benefit of the whole vineyard.
The tasting includes 5 samples, plus bread & olive oil
