No one was more aware of the brokenness of our world than Saint John Paul II, who not only lost his entire family at a relatively young age, but also experienced his own country occupied by Nazis as well as the struggle to practice the faith under communist rule.At The Saint Paul Seminary’s Spring 2026 Archbishop John Ireland Lecture, Bishop Andrew Cozzens of the Diocese of Crookston will speak about Saint John Paul II’s pastoral strategy to hold up holiness and convince us of the greatness of human life and the healing that our world needs for mercy through exposure to the Divine Mercy. In the midst of the brokenness of our world, as we preach the mercy of God, we must not fail to propose to people their call to the fullness of life that Jesus offers and respond to the call to be saints today.
