LA-based, by way of Florida rapper YUNGMORPHEUS announces his forthcoming new solo album. Picking up right where he left off with his prolific run of projects in 2022, his new album From Whence It Came will be released April 28th via Lex Records.
From Whence It Came builds on an already extensive catalog from MORPHEUS, whose conversational style slips between sardonic humor and intrepid observations in an instant. The new album provides a lush new patchwork of sounds for MORPHEUS to make his own, laying quintessentially smooth raps over a varied selection of West Coast G-funk, hurried drum n bass rhythms, and soul samples like the slow spin of a radio dial. From Whence It Came features an array of guests including longtime collaborators and artists new to the fold including Fly Anakin, Jimetta Rose, MED and more.
The album follows last year's EP Burnished Sums, which saw MORPHEUS opening his world up to multiple producers like Ezra Collective's Joe Armon-Jones, Creme and DMH, and also produced several of the tracks himself. The EP includes the tracks "Distant Place," "Figure-Four Leg Lock," and "Sonny's Triangle," and closed out a year in which he released three other full-length collaborative projects, Up Against the Wall with THERAVADA, Slang Casino with Obijuan and Bag Talk Deluxe with Pink Siifu, solidifying his place as a prolific artist in the burgeoning underground rap scene.
