Join us in celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights at the Seattle Asian Art Museum! This is a free event with museum admission. Suggested admission pricing is available at the Ticketing Desk.
Schedule:
11 am–2 pm
Make decorative art inspired by the colors and traditions of Diwali with heritage artist and educator Deepti Agrawal.
Engage with cultural traditions all around India from custom henna designs to artistic practices, then strike a pose at a Diwali-themed Polaroid photo booth with Junior Asha Seattle.
11 am
Experience a bilingual Diwali storytime with puppets in Hindi and English from Hindi Time Kids. Ideal for adults and caregivers with children ages 2-5.
11:30 am
Participate in a Bhangra dance workshop with Rhythms of India. Ideal for families with children of all ages.
12:30–1:30 pm
Enjoy live musical performances presented by Junior Asha Seattle.
12:30–2 pm
Get a taste of India with a warm cup of Jaipur Avenue Chai.
While food, drinks, and large backpacks are not permitted in the galleries, we encourage all families to bring personal snacks and beverages to enjoy all throughout the museum's lower level. All personal belongings can be stored in the self-serve lockers on a first-come, first-served basis.
