About this Event
About the Event:
Contrary to popular belief, diabetes isn’t just an "older person’s disease." In fact, many young Black men and women face unique challenges and stigmas as they manage diabetes in their everyday lives. This panel will shine a light on their lived experiences, offering expert insights and practical advice to support a healthier, fuller life.
Admission:
This event is free, but we strongly encourage donations to support The Diabaddie Organization. Contributions will directly help minority children with Type 1 Diabetes by providing access to programs like the Diabetes Camp Initiative, scholarships, and cultural awareness activities.
Panelists:
- Lived Experience: A Black woman who has successfully managed her diabetes, sharing her journey.
- Nutritionist: Learn how proper diet and lifestyle changes can make a difference.
- Diabetes Specialist (Endocrinologist): Understand the medical side of managing diabetes and new treatment options.
- Mental Health Professional: Explore the mental and emotional toll of diabetes and strategies for self-care.
Why You Should Attend:
Whether you’re living with diabetes, supporting a loved one, or simply want to learn more about this often-misunderstood condition, this event will provide actionable insights, valuable resources, and a space for connection. While the focus will be on Black women’s experiences, men are absolutely welcome to attend and benefit from the discussion!
