About this Event
The intention of this event is to gather a small to medium size group of people who would like to participate in intellectual discussions (scientific and philosophical questions). As a group, we will be voting on one question per session and then rationally analyze, discuss and build arguments for and against various positions, in order to get closer to knowledge and gain clarity on how the question may be answered or approached.
When attending this event, attendees are expected to participate in the discussion. If a participant would like to observe, that is okay as well.
BASIC QUESTIONS WE WOULD WANT TO ANSWER FOR ANY GIVEN TOPIC
- What would an answer to the question look like?
- Are there questions that we would need to answer before being able to answer the given question?
- What information or knowledge do we not have and how can we get it?
- What are our basic values that would make our answers to the given question different?
- What are the reasons we have for the conclusion (argument for position)?
Suggested questions for this session (please feel free to come with your own questions/topic ideas and we can vote on which one to answer in this session)
- Is randomness a coherent concept?
- Is morality objective or subjective/relative?
- What is the best system of government?
- How can we define and come to know reality?
