Discover Community Cafe Presents Get-Hype Open-Mic
Join us for @Discover_Community_Cafe Presents: Get-Hype Open-Mic hosted by Oakland raised author and poet, @imjrice. Come through to this FREE EVENT at 3207 Louise Street, Oakland, CA 94608 on Friday March 20th, 2026 from 6:00-9pm for an open mic like no other. Whether you're a poet, musician, comedian, or storyteller, here is your opportunity to share your work to the world.
We will feature poet, educator, and event curator, Tino V. H. Jr. (@tinovhjr) performing a full poetry set. We will also have a Writer's Workshop before showtime. Don’t miss out on the most hype open mic around!

Tino V. H. Jr. (@tinovhjr) is a Mexican-American teaching artist and spoken word poet born and raised in Oakland, CA. He attended UC Santa Cruz, pursuing a degree in Literature with a concentration in Latin American Literature. He has represented poetry teams for cities like Santa Cruz and Berkeley, CA, on national stages. Most recently, he traveled to the Bigfoot Poetry Festival with the 2023 Berkeley Slam team, where they took 3rd place. His work explores im/migration, indigeneity, the hood, queerness, feminism, and decolonial frameworks.
Open Mic Guidelines:
1. Each performer is allowed to perform 1 piece (poem, song, short comedy set, etc) but 5 mins max.
2.We will have a bluetooth speaker for backing tracks but be patient with the tech.
3.Keep your content somewhat appropriate for all ages
4. Please support the cafe with a purchase (or 2).
