About this Event

Our Digital Habit Champions programme gives alumni the skills and tools needed to raise awareness of the impact of digital wellbeing in your workplace, and support your people to live their best digital lives.

How digital wellbeing is impacting your organisation

Research1 combining results from 194 studies into the negative consequences of workplace technologies shows that while digital working brings great benefits, it comes with an array of unintended negative consequences that can contribute to the possibility of burnout, occupational stress, psychological overload and fatigue.

One report2 by Deloitte found that with 61% of employees planning to leave their job due to poor mental health, the cost of mental health related sickness absence in the UK is at a record high of £53-56 billion per year.

Other unintended negative consequences include an impact on productivity, and

The Economist Intelligence Unit estimates3 that, on average, 581 hours per person are being lost annually due to distractions. That’s the equivalent of 28 per cent of total working hours.

How raising awareness can unlock wellbeing and productivity

With employees spending most of their time looking at screens, it's an employers responsibility to support their teams to manage the impact. Digital Wellbeing Champions are given the skills and tools to run internal sessions that raise awareness, and provide tools to help their colleagues to work more effectively in a world of 24/7 connection and digital distraction. They will become points of contact within your organisation and can seek to understand the influence that technology could be having within your organisation.

How the training works

The course is delivered via a 1hr 45min interactive webinar with a comprehensive guide and resource pack.

The session begins with an overview of digital wellbeing, and exploring relevant scientific studies into workplace digital distraction and its impact on wellbeing.

We then introduce proven tools and techniques that they can use to help their peers, including how to:

  • Notice the impact of technology on their wellbeing
  • Set boundaries with clients and colleagues (while aligned with team objectives)
  • Work more productively in a world of digital distractions
  • Use technology and social media in an effective way

Alumni receive a techtimeout challenge bag, a toolkit of Mind over Tech Digital Wellbeing experiment cards, a certificate and logo to share their digital wellbeing status, as well as access to our community for best practice and updates.
