About this Event
Digital Construction and AI: Who’s in Control?
The UWE Conference 2026 marks the third year in a row of this growing annual event series at UWE Bristol, building on the success of the previous two conferences, Are We There Yet? and Digital Construction Climate Nexus. Over the past two years, the event has become a valuable platform for bringing together industry, academia, and future professionals to explore the forces shaping the built environment.
This year’s theme, “Digital Construction and AI: Who’s in Control?”, turns the spotlight onto one of the most urgent questions facing both industry and academia today. As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in construction processes, workflows, education, research, and decision-making, the event will examine how we can embrace innovation while maintaining responsibility, accountability, and meaningful human oversight.
Through keynote talks, breakout sessions, and cross-sector discussions, the conference will explore the opportunities, risks, and wider implications of AI for the built environment, creating space for critical debate on the future of digital construction across both professional practice and academic inquiry.
