Celebrate Father’s Day with the whole family at our ever-popular Scampagnata picnic, returning on 21st June 2026. This flagship event continues to be a highlight of the AVC calendar, and is beloved by generations who grew up enjoying its unique charm.
Join us once again in Abergavenny for a fun-filled day, no previous attendance at an AVC event is needed – everyone is welcome. Come early, set up camp for the day, and don’t hold back on your picnic feast – we say, the more food, the merrier!
The Scampagnata is a true family celebration with something for everyone:

A Tug-o-War for the brave and bold
Our much-loved Bocce tournament, open to all skill levels

THE PLAN FOR THE DAY
For those who know the routine, you’ll feel right at home. For newcomers – here’s what to expect:
Pay the committee member at the gate upon arrival.
Choose your parking and picnic spot in the field – tables, gazebos, and garden furniture are all welcome.
You’re free to bring your own food and drink. BBQs are fine too, but please don’t place them directly on the grass – we want to keep the field in good shape.
Event announcements will be made over the loudspeaker throughout the day.
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in the field.
Please park efficiently to make space for all attendees.
Take all rubbish with you when you leave – let’s keep the site clean and green.
