Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP)

Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP) is coming to Glen Park Branch Library!

Join us for this six (6) week workshop that will begin on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 3:00 PM and will continue to meet weekly until the end date of February 11, 2026.

The Diabetes Empowerment Education program was developed by the University of Illinois at Chicago and is geared towards those who are diabetic, pre-diabetic and non-diabetic seniors (60+) who are interested in prevention.

These are highly interactive workshops that give seniors (60+) resources to help them take control of their health. Topics include how to self-manage diabetes, how to decrease risk factors, how to manage and prevent complications, and much more.

This six (6) week workshop will meet once a week on Wednesdays for two (2) hours. The meet-up dates are below:

• Wednesday, January 7th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
• Wednesday, January 14th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
• Wednesday, January 21st from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
• Wednesday, January 28th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
• Wednesday, February 4th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
• Wednesday, February 11th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Those who attend at least five (5) out of the six (6) meet-up dates will receive a take-home resource book, a certificate, and a bag of appreciation prizes!
