Dive-In 48 Film Festival 2026 presents a special focus on Céline Sciamma and Adèle Haenel - a celebrated French filmmaker-actress duo known for their significant professional collaboration and past romantic relationship. Haenel's role as Sciamma's inspirational muse began with "WATER LILIES" (2007), then followed in the short film "PAULINE" (2009), and finally culminated with the female gaze manifesto and masterpiece "PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE" (2019) before amicably separating, maintaining a close artistic partnership.
"PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE" also marked Haenel's final film role before she retired from the mainstream film industry in 2023.

The paths of three 15-year-old girls living in a modern Paris suburb cross at the local swimming pool, where love and desire make a dramatic appearance. The dynamics of their relationships gradually begins to shift as they come to learn the true meaning of arousal and the power of sexual attraction.

"PAULINE" (2009), 8. min, French (English Subtitles)
A short film, which revolves around the difficulties of a young woman, who leaves her native village in order to live her homosexuality far from the reproachful eyes of the other inhabitants. Selected in the screenplay competition "Young and gay in the eyes of others" chaired by legendary French Director André Téchiné.

"PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE" (2019), 122 min, French (English Subtitles)
A love story set in the 18th century about Marianne, a painter, and the aristocratic Heloïse, whose pre-wedding portrait she has been commissioned to paint. Heloïse, unwilling to marry, has consistently refused to sit – so Marianne paints her secretly, having been introduced as a hired companion.
