Session #6: Cigs featuring Dodie Bellamy, Ben Lerner, & CA Conrad
About
This reading group is for chaotically dedicated writers and artists, who want to deepen their practice through reading, prompt work, and collective discussion.
Together, we'll read and discuss a selection of prose and poetry excerpts, then weโll write through the readings by collaboratively building writing prompts to work with in session. And share what weโve written with each other.
You can expect a collaborative, generative, and informal space.
Reading materials are provided but bring whatever it is you write with. No prep is required. PWYC
Your hosts
Mic Jones is a poet. Theft, dancing, paying rent, gender, mosh-pit-style-bibliographies, spit & trees come up in their work a lot. You can read them in CV2, Peripheral Review, The Poetry Project, Hobart Pulp, Simulacrum, Stone of Madness, & beyond. Mic curates readings for the League of Canadian Poets and is the co-founder of Undisciplined Collective, a trans-medium workshop/exhibition series for queer artists in Tkaronto.
Melly is a poet & facilitator. Mellyโs work explores the interplay between everyday mundanity & sacred revelation, revealing the inherent distortions between the two. Their process includes screen recording, collaging, riffing, pocket trashing, internet relicing, & big fun party mixing. Find their work in ROOM, CV2, Metatron Press, Arc Poetry, Silverfish, Toronto Biennial of Art, & beyond. Today Melly is moved by profound synchronicities in youtube comments, & the karaoke versions.
