About this Event
This workshop will be run at Homerton University Hospital Education Centre in Classroom 5.
Timings: Prompt start at 09:30am. The workshop will finish at 12:30pm.
The workshop aims to:
-Provide you with an overview of occupational therapy and how we can support you to support the children you work with to participate in every day school activities.
-Increase understanding of the stages of self-care skill development for children.
-Increase understanding of how to grade activities to the appropriate level for the child.
-Support attendees to set a specific goal for either an individual child or groups of children they work with in relation to participation in daily activities.
-Support attendees to think about strategies to support individual and groups of pupils, in relation to their own personal needs, the physical, social and sensory environment in the classroom and school setting, and the aspects of the school based tasks they are completing.
-Encourage sharing of ideas, issues and concerns with other school staff.
Who can attend: This workshop is suitable for class teachers, teaching assistants and SENCos working with children in mainstream and additional needs schools in Hackney.
