This workshop, part of the Batesville High School Student Skill Development Series, explores the power of DISC assessments in enhancing student career readiness. Career coaches will gain valuable insights into identifying and developing the skills employers seek. Learn how to guide students in understanding their own behavioral styles, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and effectively communicating their value to potential employers. This workshop will equip you with the tools and strategies to empower your students to become highly desirable applicants in the competitive job market.
In this event you will
1. Learn strategies to help students answer with confidence the first question asked in every interview, “Tell me about yourself including your strengths and weaknesses.”
2. Understand the principles of DISC assessment theory and its application in career development.
3. Learn effective methods for guiding students in understanding their own DISC profiles, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and effectively communicating their value proposition to potential employers.
4. Have a Q & A opportunity to ask and discuss any of the above topics.
GUEST BIO
Andy Allen has served as the principal of Batesville High School since 2013, previously holding positions as associate principal and teacher within the district. He boasts a strong educational background with degrees from Indiana University, Ball State University, and Indiana Wesleyan University. Allen is the current president-elect of the Indiana Association on School Principals.
Allen is a dedicated advocate for student success, actively collaborating with Ivy Tech-Batesville on dual-credit programs and expanding mentorship opportunities with local businesses. He has been a key player in statewide initiatives like Graduation Pathways and Indiana iLab, focusing on modernizing high school education.
At Batesville High School, Allen has spearheaded initiatives like the Skill Development series, focusing on preparing students for the workforce through community partnerships, skills assessments, and the Bulldog Ready transformation aligned with the Ford Next Generation Learning framework.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Allen is a devoted family man, happily married to Kathy and proud father to Hannah and Madi.
