About this Event
This two-hour workshop is designed to help you take the first steps toward designing your very own garden. You don’t need to be an artist or a master gardener. We’ll help you identify the garden “unmoveables,” articulate a vision, function, and mood for your garden, determine which garden style or styles interest you most, and explore garden features that may be of interest. Then, whether you have a large plot of land, a balcony, or anything in between we will focus on helping you create your own draft sketch of your dream garden. Great for beginning gardeners and those gardeners seeking to create a more intentional space.
NOTE: This session will not focus on plant and tree selection.
What You’ll Accomplish
We move quickly from "big picture" dreaming to a physical reality. During this session, you will:
- Map the "Unmoveables": Learn how to ground your sketch by identifying fixed elements like your home’s footprint, fences, and established trees.
- Define Your Vibe: Articulate the specific vision, function, and mood you want your outdoor space to evoke.
- Find Your Style: Explore various native garden aesthetics to see which styles and features (like bird baths, rock outcroppings, or winding paths) resonate with you.
- Draft Your Blueprint: Walk away with a tangible, hand-drawn draft sketch of your dream garden layout.
Note: Please bring the approximate dimensions of your outdoor space and a list of any "unmoveables" (like large trees, sheds, or utility meters) to ensure your sketch is as accurate as possible.
