DERRY JAZZ WEEKEND MAY BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND. DERRY JAZ FESTIVAL. The Roaring Forties are a high-energy six-piece swing jazz band, formed in 2004, with 25 years of explosive live performance and three albums, including the hit album There Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens, which reached number 6 in the charts. Known for driving rhythms, sharp improvisation, and vintage swagger with a modern, edgy bite—thanks in part to their singer, who was a sound engineer for Motörhead in the 1980s—they have been thrilling audiences in Derry for 20 years and are back for the May Bank Holiday Derry Jazz Festival 2026. They’ve also appeared at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, Haugesund Jazz Festival, Stavanger, iconic venues like The 100 Club on Oxford Street, and stages in New York and Washington. Fast, loud, and unapologetic, they bring classic swing roaring into the present. Look them up.
