At this crucial moment for the U.S. and Europe, acclaimed author and political scientist Daniel Ziblatt shares insights on the current state of democracy, democratic backsliding, and possible ways forward. Ziblatt is co-author of the influential and bestselling books How Democracies Die ("the most important book of the Trump era"— The Economist) and Tyranny of the Minority, co-authored with Steven Levitsky, among other important books. Ziblatt is Eaton Professor of Government at Harvard University and director of its Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies; he also leads a research group on democracy and its erosion at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center in Germany.
This event is the annual Otto and Fran Walter Memorial Lecture.
