About this Event
Join us for Demilitarise Universities: Exploring the Impact of Militarisation in University Education and Solidarity with Palestine, a University of Bristol event, organised by UoB Staff Stand with Palestine in partnership with Demilitarise Education.
This panel discussion will shed light on the growing militarisation within universities and its connection to the broader struggles for justice, with a special focus on the Palestinian cause. The event is supported by University of Bristol branches of UCU, UNITE and UNISON unions.
Featuring a panel of speakers: Carmen Wilson (Director of Operations, Demilitarise Education), Dr. Chris Rossdale (Senior Lecturer in Politics & International Relations), Dr. Oscar Berglund (UCU Vice President), and Faisa Mahamud (BSc Physics, 2023).
This event will bring together University of Bristol staff and students to examine how militarisation impacts academic spaces, student activism and the ethical responsibilities of universities while also addressing how solidarity with Palestine fits into the larger movement for decolonisation and demilitarisation.
Whether you are a student, academic or a supporter this event will offer valuable insights and discussion into how we can build a more just, peaceful, and equitable university system free from ties to oppressive regimes and militarisation. Don't miss this opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals and contribute to a meaningful cause. See you there!
