CREATIVE AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES IMPROVE WELLBEING FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA.
16.8% of elders aged 65+ in Washington, D.C. are living with dementia/Alzheimer's. (Source: Alzheimer's Association). This workshop provides space for support and care through art and storytelling.
About the workshop: Artful Caregiving Tools
Led by dementia care experts from the George Washington University Institute for Brain Health & Dementia, these facilitated arts workshops offer both residencts with dementia + caregivers a hands-on opportunity to learn creative techniques for connecting with loved ones living with memory loss.
About the storytelling project: Stories in Portraits
Professional portrait photography of residents with dementia + caregivers will capture the moments we create at this workshop.
The Dap Project's photographers will document the essence of participants' stories for a June exhibit honoring the lives and experiences of those living with dementia.
