About this Event
You are invited to attend a FREE Dementia Friends Information Session at the Twickenham Wellbeing Centre on Thursday 26 March (2.30-4pm).
The Dementia Friends programme is the Alzheimer's Society's biggest ever initiative to change peoples' perceptions of dementia. Stigma and lack of understanding cause many people with the condition to experience loneliness and social exclusion.
We look forward to seeing you there! Tea and biscuits will be provided.
Who should attend:
This session is aimed at staff, trustees and volunteers at organisations supporting local residents.
This event is for Richmond voluntary and community sector groups only.
Please note that this is an awareness session rather than a training session.
Facilitator:
Marie Therese Keegan is the Dementia Friendly Communities Richmond Coordinator, working to create an inclusive borough where residents affected by dementia are empowered and supported to continue to live as well as they can. She has been working in Wellbeing Services with Age UK Richmond for 7 years, for the last 3 years as the Dementia Friendly Communities coordinator for Richmond, a project funded by Richmond council.
Sam Smith is the Dementia Advisor with Alzheimer's Society Richmond and will be speaking about their work in the borough.
Cost:
There is no charge for this session for Richmond-based VCS groups or those providing local services.
