About this Event
The world is on the precipice. Global conflict is escalating. Economic inequality is rising. And dangerous technologies and ideologies threaten the existence of life. The Defending Compassion Summit will empower you to fight for the future using the tools of nonviolence.
Learn from expert activists and academics about evidence-based approaches to social change—and the key role of nonviolence. Find a community (a church, student group, or civic organization) where you can build friendships and sustain long-term action. And get ready to take action!
The summit comes in three acts:
- A panel or talk by expert activists or academics about effective strategies for change;
- A nonviolence workshop where you will put those lessons into practice;
- An “unconference” where you can brainstorm, connect, and collaborate on future projects; and
Lunch is included in the summit fee. And there will be opportunities to put what you learn into action immediately.
By the end of the summit, you won’t feel afraid for the future. You’ll be empowered to stem the tide of violence and defend compassion
Sponsored by Columbia Effective Altruism, UTS Animal Caucus, and other supporting groups with financial support from The Simple Heart.
