Jordina Torrents – From Research to Real-World AI Systems
Jordina Torrents is a Senior Generative AI Manager at HP, where she leads the AI Lab at the R&D centre in Barcelona. She holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, with research experience at King’s College London and Google UK.
Her work focuses on turning advances in machine learning and generative AI into real-world systems, leading initiatives across large-scale data, cloud infrastructure and production-ready AI.
Alongside her industry role, Jordina is an associate professor at UOC and La Salle (Ramon Llull University), contributing to research and teaching in computer vision, generative AI and machine learning.
Her work has been recognised through international awards including Google Women Techmakers, McKinsey Next Generation Women Leaders and the Ada Byron Young Award.
Konstantin Matskevich – Building Computer Vision Systems for Real-World Environments
Konstantin Matskevich is a Computer Vision Lead at Twindo (formerly Canvas), where he leads the development and productionisation of computer vision systems for 3D scanning, SLAM and Scan2CAD conversion.
With a background in autonomous driving and perception systems, he has worked across the full lifecycle of computer vision technologies, from research and modelling to real-world deployment.
At Twindo, Konstantin focuses on translating state-of-the-art research into production-ready systems, working with technologies such as 3D Gaussian Splatting and spatial machine learning models, while building scalable architectures and leading engineering teams.
His work reflects the broader challenge of turning experimental computer vision methods into reliable systems that operate under real-world constraints.
What’s In It For You?
Some of the most interesting advances in AI today are not happening in isolation, but at the intersection of research, data and real-world systems.
In this DeepTech Talks edition, Jordina and Konstantin will explore what it really takes to move from experimentation to production, across two very different but complementary domains: generative AI and computer vision.
You’ll hear about:
• How advanced AI models move from research environments into production systems
• What it takes to build reliable computer vision systems for real-world use cases
• The gap between state-of-the-art research and scalable engineering
• How teams structure, prioritise and deliver deep tech products under real constraints
Expect a grounded discussion on how deep tech companies turn complex models into systems that actually work in the real world.
Who Should Come?
• AI/ML engineers and computer vision engineers
• Product leaders and engineering managers
• Deep tech founders and technical leaders
• Researchers interested in applied AI and system design
• Anyone curious about how advanced AI becomes usable technology
