Death Valley Workshops 2024
Join Stephen Burns in the upcoming Death Valley Photography Workshop, which will span 3 ½ days and we plan to photograph in many iconic places of the magnificent Death Valley. Potential locations to photograph include the Mesquite Sand Dunes, Racetrack, Badwater and nearby ghost towns.
Stephen will lead the group to each location at the best times for optimal light for shooting and guide the student as to what they should be looking for in lighting and composition.
The workshop includes a Photoshop class led by Stephen Burns where you will learn techniques to enhance the photos taken from each location that we visit.
Gold Point Ghost Town
We are also looking at visiting the Gold Point Ghost town as part of our tour. You can see more about Gold Point here: www.ghosttowns.com/states/nv/goldpoint.html. We will also visit Goldfield and Tonopah.
These iconic ghost towns are ideal to expressing your photographic creativity using a variety of subject matter. From antiquity to abstract textures there is something for everyone.
About the Instructor:
Stephen is a photographer and digital artist with a creative and keen eye for composition, High Dynamic Range (HDR) and panoramic photography. Stephen has published numerous books on using Photoshop for creative projects and enhancing photographs. Image by Stephen BurnsStudents will learn to improve their composition, shoot images for HDR to extend tonal range far beyond a single exposure, create panoramic images from a series of pictures, photograph stars trails in long exposures, capture the beauty of the night sky in a single exposure and many other creative photography techniques..
The format of the workshop is to shoot in the early morning and then have an image review and discussion in the afternoon followed by a late afternoon shoot and a night shoot. After each shoot we will select a quiet place to share and discuss our experiences. This discussion will be instrumental for improving students’ technique and vision as an artist. On a clear night we will choose a location to capture the spectacular night sky and star trails. Included with the workshop will be a session on Photoshop techniques geared toward landscape and nature photographs.
Cost & Accommodations:
The workshop instruction fee is $895 per person. Each individual will be responsible for booking their own room as you can share a double bed room if you like. A detailed agenda of the workshop will be provided to attendees, so we can plan to meet for each shoot at the scheduled time.
