about our guest: Jackie (they/she) spends their time in the community collaborating with folks that support experiences that center care, accessibility, and connection! They are an educator to folks curious about sewing, aerial arts, & yoga - to name a few ;). They grew up in a multicultural/immigrant family in colorado springs and are learning more about their indigenous lineages to the African continent (Nigerian/Yoruba Tribe) and to these Native Lands where the Cherokee (Ani-Yunwiya) people shed their tears on the trail. They are moving slowly in their rediscovery and are not registered with the Tribal Nations. Her relationship with death & grieving started at a young age and continues to develop as she creates spaces where people can acknowledge their sadness & resilience with others. She is an abuse survivor and a trauma-conscious space-holder. Catch them facilitating events around town and stay in touch through their micro-business (led by one, collaborating w/ many) at Interwoven-llc.com. photos of jackie by morgan rodriguez @ramaare

about the host: sky (they/them) is a queer autistic non-binary artist, tattooer, herbalist, and aspiring death guide. their intention for death & grief queer meet-up is to bring those moving through grief together, normalize conversations of death, and offer resources to the queer community. this gathering is not a support group.

meet-up description: death & grief queer meet-up provides cozy spaces for queer and trans community to gather in mutual grief. we focus on a variety of themes and activities each month to explore what community grieving can look like. while we’re not a support group, our intention is to build community, learn new ways to express and understand our grief, and cultivate joy while de-stigmatizing conversations of death, grief, & beyond.
