About this Event
Friendly and accomplished local orchestra welcomes all to an afternoon of classical favourites.
Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel: Overture in C
Mozart : Piano Concerto No. 24 (Soloist: Soho Park)
Beethoven: Overture to 'Egmont'
Schubert: Symphony No. 4 'Tragic'
Conductor: Andrew Morley
Leader: Guy Button
We start the afternoon with an exciting overture from one of the 19th century's most overlooked composers. Then we welcome soloist Soho Park, from the Cobham-based Yehudi Menuhin School, to the stage for Mozart's passionate and beautiful piano concerto no. 24. Beethoven's lively and tuneful 'Egmont' overture opens the second half, followed by Schubert's Symphony No. 4, which after the mournful first section, is anything but tragic!
An interval for refreshments allows you to meet with friends and mingle with the orchestra. A complimentary programme gives details of the music we play and we're always delighted to interact with and answer questions from the audience.
