DCJ + P2PH Conference: Public Health’s Role in the Criminal Legal System
Two centers at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, the Data Collaborative for Justice (DCJ) and From Punishment to Public Health (P2PH) are hosting a hybrid public event to discuss the barriers to healthcare access for justice involved individuals and the role of public health as a crime prevention and community reentry strategy. The event is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, December 12, 2024, 9:00 am-3:30 pm (Eastern), in the West End of the Student Dining Hall at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York, NY.
This event seeks to convene policy experts, researchers, practitioners, elected officials, and service providers to discuss the health needs of justice-involved populations. At a crucial time when federal and local funding offer new opportunities to serve vulnerable populations, this convening aims to amplify the solutions to improve cross-sector collaboration and client outcomes. The event will feature three panel discussions and remarks from policymakers and other thought leaders in the fields of criminal legal and healthcare reform.
