Thursday, Mar 5, 2026 - Dave Penny & Daunt Lee at The Battery CafeDave Penny has been performing for over thirty years in St. John’s, sometimes with an accordion and other times not. He has appeared in many Newfoundland and Labrador towns and festivals, the Mariposa Folk Festival in Ontario, and throughout parts of New England, presenting his unique blend of comedy songs and historical ballads. He has three solo albums to his credit and three with the recitation group From Stage to Stage.
Since 2017, Dave has been performing with multi-instrumentalist Daunt Lee, presenting a mix of a cappella songs and recitations as well as full arrangements featuring Daunt’s intricate guitar and mandolin playing. The two have an engaging presence and comical banter that keeps ‘er going along. Few tunes too!

Our max capacity is 35 so larger groups (>3 people) should purchase tickets well ahead of time. Walk-ins may be available on the day of the show - please drop in or call 709-722-9167 to confirm.
Our Kitchen closes at 3:00pm, but snacks and baked treats are available till 9:00.
Please arrive at least 15 mins early to get seated and avoid the rush. Groups of 3 or more will be assigned a table; free seating for singles and couples. Please check in with our staff before seating yourself.
