Join us for a special event with Dave O. Dodge as he discusses his newest book HANNAH: One Woman’s Quest for Vengeance and Freedom. The story of Hannah Duston’s capture by Abenaki people during the 1697 raid on Haverhill, MA during King William’s war, journey north up the Merrimack River, and her harrowing escape has become the stuff of legend. David Dodge’s new historical novel about Hannah explores survival, trauma, and the moral ambiguity born of violence. As the journey unfolds, Hannah is pushed to the limits of endurance. She becomes filled with a thirst for vengeance and a fierce will to survive. Hannah devises a plan for her freedom, but at what cost or with what consequences? This novel does not present easy answers nor judge the actions of Duston. Instead, it examines the emotional and moral weight carried by those who live through violence, leaving the reader to decide. How far would a mother go for revenge before she becomes a monster?
Dave is a New England–born writer, traveler, and innkeeper whose work has appeared in Food & Flourish, Frontdoors, Prime Living, Echo Magazine, and INMexico. A natural storyteller, he is the author of The Seasons of Grace and Betty: A Life Interrupted.
