Dave Monterey & The Tide
Dave Monterey, a California native, has always searched for a life of creative inspiration. Over the years, he penned many hundreds of songs and recorded scores of them. These culminated in three fine solo CDs and multiple band CDs, including the 2024 release Dave Monterey Moving Violation on Jackalope Records.
Former Rolling Stone senior writer Michael Goldberg writes: “A singer/songwriter in the tradition of Jackson Browne, James Taylor and the late John Prine…Dave Monterey’s lyrics are by turns thoughtful, heartfelt and at times humorous. The mostly Americana-style music can rock, hit a folk-jazz groove, or go upbeat honky-tonk.”
Monterey has been part of the North Bay music scene since playing the Inn of the Beginning and Cotati Cabaret during the mid-1970s. He’s opened for The Blasters, Albert Lee, Kate Wolf, Norton Buffalo, and Delbert McClinton. He’s played a lead role in many North Bay bands from The String Rays to Ruby Moon, to Heartwood Crossing, and most recently, Dave Monterey & The Tide.
He loves playing an intimate room as found at The Lost Church in Santa Rosa. On Sunday, November 10th, Dave Monterey will perform a matinee concert with full band “The Tide” featuring extraordinary guitarist-singer from Seattle, Ivan Lee, violinist and musical partner of many years, Jon Berger, bassist Bryan Paisley, and drummer John Geraty.
The Lost Church performance will highlight Monterey’s best-known songs including local favorite “Stony Point Road” and brand new tunes such as “Peaceable Revolution Right Now.”
