This workshop explores data privacy and the role (and limitations) of synthetic data in the energy sector.
About this Event

Session Information

The aim of the workshop will be to demonstrate how sharing detailed datasets can lead to issues around privacy and how generating synthetic data can help to reduce or remove these sensitivities whilst maintain utility.

The workshop will be split into two sessions, one focusing on how detailed datasets can create risks around personal data and the second around how synthetic data can help balance privacy and utility of valuable data. Each session will have short presentation and an interactive session where the audience can implement examples using notebooks connected to data on the SENSE platform.


Target Audience

Students, researchers, innovators, data owners. Beginners or above knowledge of Python required.


Requirements

Participants should bring their own laptop with their chosen web browser


Intended Learning Outcomes
  1. Share understanding of the value and risks associated to sensitive data
  2. Techniques which can be utilised to reduce these risks
