About this Event
Dark Humour
Jonathan Reichental is a 29-year-old contemporary artist whose work explores human struggle and psychological intensity. Rooted in neo-expressionism, his practice features distorted figures, raw mark-making, and stark, high-contrast monochrome compositions.
Working across paint, chalk, marker, printmaking, photgraphy and sculpture, He creates direct, visceral pieces that confront themes of identity and the human condition with immediacy and force.
This practice is rooted in sustainability and necessity. Working with discarded materials, he transforms what others throw away. Shaped by the financial constraints faced by emerging artists, including himself.
By reworking “waste” into art, challenging ideas of value while contributing to a more sustainable culture, one that uses the available, reduces excess, and finds creative force in difficult circumstances.
