Dante' Pope
Dante’ blends his gospel roots and multi-genre experience into a warm sound with a message of love and vulnerability. The multi-instrumentalist contributed to the Grammy-nominated album, Black Cowboys, with Smithsonian Folkways and Grammy winner Dom Flemons and most recently toured as drummer/pianist and featured vocalist for 2x Grammy award country powerhouse, Nashville based group, Old Crow Medicine Show, known for their hit song, “Wagon Wheel.” The new single, “Proof,” comes after a slight hiatus from his solo career given his love for collaboration. “Proof,” was born out of a longing to put all his influences in a bottle: gospel, spirituals, blues, soul and jazz. The song is akin to the nuance of the great Bill Withers, mixed with Delta blues guitar riffs as a nod to his family's roots in North Delta Mississippi.
