Join us for an evening of classical and modern Persian music with sisters Mahsa and Marjan Vahdat.
From Iran and now based in California, both of them embody the rich cultural heritage of Iran in their music, seamlessly conveying powerful emotions through blending traditional Iranian melodies with contemporary influences. In doing so, they resonate with audiences globally, offering a glimpse into the beauty and complexity of Persian melodies and poetry with a global sound.
The program consists of various folksongs and poems by classical Persian poets like Hafez and Rumi and contemporary Iranian poets from the 20th century and the early 21st century like Forough Farrokhzad and Mohammad Ibrahim Jafari. Mahsa and Marjan create melodies on top of the poems based on the Persian vocal tradition.
