About this Event
Daniel Schwarzwald, a former Berlin resident, will perform two sets at the B-Flat Jazz Club, drawing from his new live album, "Dancing With Bach", as well as material from his previous albums such as "My Journey to Venus"
The inspiration for "Dancing With Bach" came during the summer of 2021, while Covid restrictions were still in place. Residing in Olympia, near Seattle, Daniel spent hours each day practicing on a Steinway piano, rediscovering his favorite classical composers. During this period, he immersed himself in Bach's Partita for Keyboard in A minor, No. 3, BWV 827
"What also caught my attention is that the movements of the partitas are predominantly dances from various cultures (Italian, Irish, French Spanish, German). I thought I could modernise these dances by adding contemporary grooves and arranging them anew."
