In its second season, vildwerk. presents Dancing for Our Wonderful World, a four-night celebration where acclaimed choreographers and world-class dancers illuminate the beauty and urgency of our planet.The program brings together works by eight visionary choreographers:
Christopher Wheeldon OBE β After the Rain. A much loved masterpiece performed by stars of New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, Mira Nadon & Preston Chamblee (Dec 17/18) and Isabella Boylston & Craig Hall (Dec 19/20).
Gianna Reisen β Network
A contemporary dance piece for four dancers with an original score by David K. Israel and set photography by Samantha Bass. The work explores the magic of mycorrhizal fungi and the symbiotic relationship it has to all plant life. Created in collaboration with the Mycorrhizal Fund.
Jacqulyn Buglisi β Moss Anthology #5 for vildwerk. with a score by Jeff Beal performed by members of Buglisi Dance Theatre.
Bradley Shelver β A World Premiere for Joffrey Concert Group with a new score by David K. Israel. Created with inspiration from World Wildlife Fund.
Antonia Franceschi β A World Premiere created on The Royal Ballet legend Edward Watson MBE and in collaboration with Nature and Culture International.
Annabelle Lopez Ochoa β Symbiotic Twin, performed by former San Francisco and Miami City Ballet Principals Benjamin Freemantle and Renan Cerdeiro.
Virginie MΓ©cΓ¨ne β FLOES, performed by Martha Graham Company Fellowship dancer Grace Sautter.
Henning RΓΌbsam β Monarcas (excerpt), performed by former New York City Ballet and Miami City Balletβs Megan LeCrone and Renan Cerdeiro.
On opening night, December 17, audiences are invited to a special ticketed after-party with the stars, featuring a charity auction to support vital conservation efforts.
