Introduction: Hey everyone, I am Barkha- Dancer, Yoga Practitioner & Spiritual Enthusiast, motivational speaker, do guided mediation, conscious breathing I know hindi and English language and to add more Japanese as well. So let me know which language you are comfortable in Preface: I am so glad and thankful to all of you for joining this community and being a part of this jam session. So, this session is all about Discussing about various dance form, learning tips and tricks, what dance means to us, how we can heal through dance both on a physical and emotional level, how regular we are with our practice, and so on. We be talking or infact touch basing various dance form such as: Bollywood Semi Classical- incorporating Kathak and Bharatnatyam Belly Dance Modern Dance Contemporary Bhangra Wacking Zumba- Masala workout Expressions- what it means to dance. Let me ask you a question when was the first time you were introduced to dance, or you got to know that you can dance? How do you feel when you dance? Dance is not just moving your body it’s medium to connect your soul to supreme, to express There is very famous Shloka “Yato hasta stato drishti”…”Where the hand gestures are, the eyes follow” “Yato drishti stato manaha”…”Where the eyes go, the mind follows” “Yato manaha stato bhava”…”Where the mind is, there is the feeling evolves” “Yato bhava stato rasa”…”Where the feeling evolves, the Rasa flows” Which means where your hands goes, eyes follows, where your eyes goes, heart follows, where your heart goes, expression/emotion follows and where there is emotion that’s a state of bliss/ or it becomes fruitful” When we put “Bhava” in our dance, when we put in emotion, it can be any dance form classical, modern, contemporary anything; when emotions are attached to dance your dance becomes powerful and it reaches to the audience. One of the ways to express “Bhava” is through expression, you can lift your dance performance from upside down just through expressions Discussing on Hastaks in Kathak and Hastaks in Bharatanatyam. How these two are different from each other. Discussing how we can incorporate belly and wacking moves which gives your dance choreography a tangy twist Summing up the Jam session with little Semi Classical choreography on “Ishq Hai” and making everybody dance.
