This play brings the dramatic true story of Father (Saint) Damien to life. He was the Belgian-born missionary priest who lived, ministered and died in service of the exiled leper (Hansen's Disease) natives on the Hawaiian Island of Molokai from 1873-1889. This powerful story is dramatized in the play written by Aldyth Morris. Wayne Messmer brings this powerful story to Holy Name Cathedral as part of the year-long celebration of the 175th Anniversary of Holy Name Parish. The performance is underwritten by the Knights of Columbus and is FREE to the public. Registrations are requested at www.holynamecathedral.orgThere will be a pre-performance gathering at a minimal charge and a post-performance meet-and-greet with Wayne Messmer.
