About this Event
Daddy Long Legs Low Tide Marina to Undercliff Walk
Explore the fascinating history and trace the route of The Daddy Long legs in this special June afternoon low-tide rock pool tour.
///spoken.duck.each - meet 'The Village Square' in Brighton Marina.
When we get low tide and warm weather artist Luciana likes to take a different route to hunt 'The Daddy Long Legs' train from 1896 - sightings guaranteed on the scars of the railtracks bolted onto concrete blocks in the sea, as well as of The Daddy Long Legs fully life-size ! She explains the potential of bringing lost history back to life as a digital artist who uses augmented reality, you will be impressed and inspired with what this can do. The artwork appears when its in the right place using GPS signals from our phones to almost precisely trigger the train from 1896-1901 on its actual route using 'geo-tagging'. It doesn't use up your data, but the battery will be used quicker.
Low tide walks start from Brighton Marina Village Green for 1 hour and the final 45 minutes require rubber shoes and stability to walk out across rockpools from The Undercliff path.
Tickets check-in from 3pm, beginning with a guided history talk and explanation for how to take photos using her free artwork app 'Pioneer_AR'
The smartphone app that triggers The Daddy Long Legs I created is called Pioneer_AR and is free to download from iPhone and android app stores.
