Cyanotype: The Art of Sun-Printed Botanicals is a hands-on workshop taught by Sonia Pal, introducing adults to one of the earliest photographic processes. Participants use sunlight and natural materials to create blue-and-white prints while learning the historical and scientific foundations of the technique. The experience is beginner-friendly, tactile, and designed to offer a restorative, screen-free creative reset.
Workshop Overview:
A hands-on introduction to the historic cyanotype process — a 19th-century
photographic printing technique that uses sunlight and natural objects to create
luminous blue-and-white prints.
Participants will:
- Learn the origins of cyanotype as one of the earliest photographic processes
- Work with light-sensitive paper and botanical materials
- Create their own sun-developed print
- Explore slow art-making as a restorative, analog ritual
- No prior experience required
- All supplies will be provided for class
- Ages 16+
Three dates to choose from:
- Saturday, May 16th, 2-5pm
- Saturday, June 13th, 1-4pm
- Saturday, July 11th, 1-4pm
