About this Event
Cyanolumen combines cyanotype and lumen printing, resulting in layered prints created through the traces of sunlight and objects on paper, as well as the chemical interaction between the cyanotype and the paper’s emulsion.
In this workshop, we will explore this process and produce 7x5 prints. Participants will layer materials gathered from the studio’s surroundings onto cyanotype-coated paper and expose them to the sun. We will discuss the chemical processes involved, mix the cyanotype chemicals, the best methods for exposing and handling photographic paper, and the differences between fixed and unfixed prints.
Everyone is invited to bring an object they’d like to include in their print, or to gather something from the studio surroundings at the start of the workshop. The resulting prints will reveal unexpected aspects of the objects placed on the paper.
There will be some snacks and tea around :)
