MEETING POINT at Kirriemuir war memorial at the top end (north) of the cemetery.
More than 80 casualties from World War One and World War Two are commemorated on headstones in Kirriemuir Cemetery. Their stories involve extraordinary events at home and abroad; on land, in the air, at sea - and even underneath the sea. There are examples of remarkable heroism, some of which merited the country’s highest award, the Victoria Cross. Others are overshadowed by accidents and ill-fortune.
There are tales of spy missions behind enemy lines and also an incident that was investigated as a war crime but was then kept a secret from its victims' families and the general public for decades.
The tour lasts approx. 90 mins and covers about 1000 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground with a short steep slope. There is wheelchair access but please note the slope and grass surface.
Parking is available on Kirriemuir Hill by the Camera Obscura which has toilet facilities. Please bring water if required.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
Only assistance dogs are allowed in the cemetery.
