Martin has a big singing voice and the songs he chooses from his vast repertoire range from traditional Scottish to Americana by way of Soul, Gospel, Blues and of course his own songs, some of which are in Spanish! You just never know what's coming next. That's what makes it so entertaining. At Martin's appearance on the Danny Kyle Open Stage at this year's Celtic Connections Festival he sang an Adam McNaughtan song, a Mavericks song, one of his own, a Gospelly Blues song and then finished with one made famous by the Oak Ridge Boys. It was a cracking 20 minutes. Willie knows, he was there. Actually he was in the band he put together for that gig and he'll be helping out at Kirriemuir on harmonica and mandolin. You can get a flavour of his influences if you "tune in" to his radio show on Celtic Music Radio on Wednesday nights. Not surprisingly it's called Wednesday Nights with Martin Stephen Jones.
